How does the EtherCAT master recognise a valid slave?

How does the EtherCAT master recognise a valid slave?

The controller looks at 3 values in the profile information or EC_EXTEND to recognise the slave.

The test is this.

Slave Vendor ID = <Vid>
Slave Product code = <Pid>
Slave revision >= <Rev>
