MC403 encoder power overload
Issue: The 5 volt supply is taken from an axis port of the MC403 and cable length is >15 meters. After 15-20 days the power supply overloaded alarms comes. After removing and reconnecting the cable, the alarm went away. But after 2-3 days alarm came again, and again removing the cable and reconnecting, the alarm goes.
Sugestions and resolution:
There are 3 possible reasons for this.
1. Something is overloading the 5V output of one or more encoder ports.
2. The RS232/RS485 serial port 5V also comes from the encoder supply, so check for overload on that.
3. It's possible that the MC403 has a fault.

Enquiry about MC508 encoder axes
A customer wants to know if he can use mixed encoders on the MC508. For example, Axes 0 to 5 are Endat absolute encoders and 6 and 7 are incremental encoders. Answer: By using the ATYPE command you can set any of the 8 axes to be either incremental ...
AXISSTATUS = L Speed limit active - how to deal with it?
AXISSTATUS L flag means the axis is in speed limited mode. It means it's running a MOVESP/MOVEABSPS/MOVECISRCSP and the VP_SPEED is not the SPEED but is at the FORCE_SPEED level. If CORNER_MODE is active, that will also show as speed limiting with ...
Connection to Single Ended Encoder (Incremental/Absolute)
It is not recommended to connect an encoder single ended because it creates strange counting behavior due to signal noise and level drifts. TTL output uses differential wiring (A with /A and B with /B) to cancel noise. But... If single ended encoders ...
Single turn SSI absolute encoder
Set ENCODER_BITS to the same as the absolute encoder i.e. a 24 bit abs encoder set ENCODER_BITS = 24 If the repeat of the encoder is not 2^24 or another power of 2 then use DRIVE_REP_DIST to set the repeat value.
MC_CONFIG vs Flash parameters
All Motion Coordinators store the IP_ADDRESS, IP_NETMASK and IP_GATEWAY in Flash memory. So there is usually no need to add them to the MC_CONFIG. There are some differences with other system parameters. MC4N-ECAT, MC4N-RTX, MC6N-ECAT, Flex-6 Nano ...
